The essays deal with issues of current interest-election politics, economy, energy, transportation, religion, women’s equality, and general aspects of daily life with specific reference to the three regions. It will appeal to general readers, students, travelers, and people with specific interest in the US, India, and Scandinavia. This book is intended to entertain and inform a mature readership. The discerning reader will have no difficulty in recognizing that the focus here is the life of the common man in the rapidly changing globalized world where physical, geographical, and cultural boundaries are breaking down rapidly. In reading a collection like this, there is a tendency to try to find a common theme across all essays. The essays are grouped by countries in three parts of the book, but they can be read independently in any order.

The essays primarily pertain to the problems and the changes happening in three parts of the world-India, the United States, and Scandinavia with particular reference to Sweden. This book is a collection of essays written over the past two years during my travels around the world in this changing environment. In the globalized world, with instant communication and few barriers, what happens in one corner of the world has an immediate impact on the other. In democratic countries like the US and India, the establishments are threatened by grassroots movements demanding change. Fortunes are being made, and life savings are being destroyed. The global financial markets are in turmoil. Entrenched for decades, powerful governments in autocratic countries are toppling without military force through the power of social media. In our dynamic world, the winds of change are blowing hard today. If you picked this book up to read about the famous Icebar in Stockholm or to locate the best Indian restaurant in New York, you will not find it here. Your love, support, and encouragement Preface
